Suspension of Disbelief........

Most readers have already heard this famous term coined by English Philosopher
Samual Taylor Coleridge.
To willingly allow fantasy, fiction and pure hyperbole to mold ones understanding of the truth. This narrative seems to have taken over our
national leaders.
Either not willing or capable of seeing, or for that matter telling the truth, the factual truth. What might for all intent, be an ideal worth naturing in a violent world, the land of PC (make believe) invariably does poorly throughout history.
Islamic terrorists are real, they kill real people, and the free world needs to rise to this challenge in an organized and purposeful manner.

The Democratic leadership, in its efforts to destroy the US economy by passing an ill-conceived health plan, has sunk to a new low (" 'Slavery' Slur at GOPers," Dec. 8).

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's tirade, accusing the Republican Party of using the same tactics as those supporting slavery, is a desperate attempt to distort a debate about spending.

It was President Lincoln, a Republican, who freed the slaves as Southern Democrats revolted.

Reid is a disgrace to the ethical values necessary to serve this nation.

All the issues Reid brought up were directly in support of individual freedoms. Passing this health monstrosity takes some of those very freedoms away.

Bam'a Promises........

Bam’s promises

Matt Welsh has articulated why President Obama is losing the less-than-faithful progressive movement within his own party (“Obama’s Lost Year,” PostScript, Dec. 20).

No politician has the real power to give these wild-eyed children every toy in the store.

At some point, Obama’s empty promises had no other course but to show themselves for what they truly are — a means to a disastrous end.

Obama is surely more suited to show business where the very sight of oneself is the accomplishment.

EXTREME CORRUPTION........

This piece is in response to Michael Goodwin article in the Sunday NY Post 12/20/09:
http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/dreading_our_future_EmFMYk61Kja4iC3EMYePVP

Is Michael Goodwin on to something, are we being led down the path of

extremism by political leaders, and a portion of the voting public that has

everything to gain, and nothing to lose? I too, am a "baby boomer" and have come to

realize what's happening to our country is the de-evolution of all the high ideals,

and expectations that were considered necessary values to a greater society. On the

surface today's generation of activists profess those same qualities. Not so fast,

there is one vital ingredient missing, integrity. As Goodwin proclaims, "Notice how

little Obama talks about sick people or medicine or suffering or any of the realities

of illness and death". The moral dimension Obama speaks of is not about people,

it's always about money, about how Harry Reid bribed Ben Nelson with $100 million

for his vote. When one needs to take extreme measures to institute practical

policies something isn't kosher. Buying votes doesn't require high ethical values,

it requires extreme corruption.

In yet another embarrassment by Reid and the democratic caucus, 60 men and

women who would be called elected representatives holed up in some smoke filled

room without the inclusion of one single member of the opposing party and hacked

at the corpse once known as Obama-Care. Reasonable men and women should have

by now understood that inclusion of discourse would produce health reform all

Americans could stand behind. But not so on Obama's watch where subversion and

ego is written into every paragraph. It's almost like a vast majority of voters

aren't really Americans any longer. This newest medicare debacle is shameful

and a slap in the face to the elderly.
