Ethics Panel: Rangel Violated House Rules

Rangel Verdict No Surprise.........and still whinning. NYPost 11/17/2010

For Charlie Rangel, it's all over but the wrist-slap.

A panel of his congressional peers found the veteran Harlem pol guilty, guilty, guilty on 11 counts of ethics violations, and now the matter goes to the full House Ethics Committee for further consideration.

Charlie wasn't buying it.

"How can anyone have confidence in the decision of the Ethics Subcommittee when I was deprived of due process rights, right to counsel and was not even in the room?" Rangel asked.

But he wasn't "in the room" when the ethics panel considered his case Monday because he had announced a boycott of the proceedings and walked out.

The petulance continued:

"I can only hope that the full committee will treat me more fairly, and take into account my entire 40 years of service to the Congress before making any decisions on sanctions."

Well, we can only hope that someday soon Rangel will 'fess up -- and just stop whining. It's unbecoming.

Yesterday's verdict made official what everyone has long known -- that Charlie Rangel is just another corrupt, old pol.

Again, he didn't even bother to contest the charges, many of which were first made public by The Post.

Rangel's violations included failing to pay taxes and to fully disclose income and assets; using a rent-stabilized apartment as a campaign office; soliciting funds from folks with business before his committee, and several others.

A weasel to the end, he now claims he was unfairly convicted.

How positively lame.

What the full committee will do now is anybody's guess.

Rangel deserves to be drop-kicked right off Capitol Hill. But Congress takes care of its own, so no one should expect more than a mild rebuke.

And even more whining from the congressman. It's what he does best.

Earmark 'earaches': Public's heard enough NYPost 11/17/2010...

It's about time that business as usual had a sharp interruption on

Capitol Hill ("End Earmarks Now," Editorial, Nov. 15).

Earmarks cheapen the very essence of good government by allowing senators

and their states to receive billions of dollars for special-interest

projects by attaching additional dollars to legitimate legislation.

Now is the time for Congress to stamp out excess and show the voting

public that it means business. Every dollar counts and should be counted.

Sen. Jim DeMint is right: No more earmarks.

Crooked UN...........

It should be apparent to all that the United Nations is a rubber-stamp organization of the third world (“Judgement of Jackals,” Editorial, Nov. 8).

It is totally out of sync with international problems that the nations that support global peace and harmony are facing.

The Human Rights Committee, with a bunch of tyrants and despots, is now judging our nation’s civil rights.

The UN should take the same route as the League of Nations. It is irrelevant in today’s complicated world scene. Let it go elsewhere and save the US taxpayers the time and money, rather than provide a pulpit of hate for these corrupt representatives.

Voters to Democrats: it's payback time NYPost 11/3/2010

Though many of us may be rejoicing, these election results are by no means a rubber-

stamp approval of the GOP's way of doing business as usual.

Maybe now, for the first time since Republicans' loss of power to Sen. Harry Reid

and Pelosi, they will take the people seriously.

This "Election of 'No' " means no more spending, no more bailouts and no tax hikes

across the board. Bringing fairness back is what the American public expects --

having our leaders acting like leaders instead of children and solving our economic

woes. Americans want jobs, not a socialist welfare state.

Your Vote Can Make the Difference...........

Nearly two years to the date we elected a man who promised us Hope and Change, but

now a good proportion of this nation feels hopeless and trapped. This Administration

from the onset was poised to tear down this nation, financially, socially and yield

to our detractors abroad. Bush in 8 years amassed a deficit in the billions, with

his first two years in office the Obama Administration has created a deficit in the

trillions that our childrens, grandchildren will still be paying for. He preached

unity and gave us partisanship, he guaranteed transparency and has worked in

collusion with the Democrat controlled Congress and made them vote on a Health Care

Bill without time to read it, he bought votes with superfluous Executive Orders that

he was well aware had no legal standing. Obama has lied and cheated his way

through two years of spending trillions of dollars while Americans in the private

sector are still losing jobs. He's created numerous new agencies and ballooned the

Federal Budget to the point of breaking our backs.

Your vote tomorrow can help to change the direction of this nation and return

our Institutions to sound, negotiated policies using what gifts God has given us;

Honesty, Integrity, and a Raional Mindset. Vote to make this message loud and

clear. We the people ARE these United States of America! Kick the bums out!!!!!
