Priest RIPS Pelosi on Abortion

“you make a mockery of the Catholic faith”

Father Frank Pavone —– Rep. Nancy Pelosi

Father Frank Pavone of Priests for Life, a group devoted to pro-life activism, issued a blistering letter to House Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi(D-CA) – questioning her claim of  being, according to Pelosi, “a practicing and respectful Catholic,” because of her pro-abortion, left-coast political policies.
Responding to a question about Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell during a House vote on limiting abortion to 20 weeks(Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act), Pelosi clung to her faith while covering her political ass:
PELOSI: “As a practicing and respectful Catholic, this is sacred ground to me when we talk about this. I don’t think it should have anything to do with politics.”
Pro-life Catholic priests and supporters of life in general erupted at her statement and it prompted Father Pavone to issue his letter – which pulls no punches, except for the devastating blows on Pelosi:
PAVONE: “With this statement you make a mockery of the Catholic faith and of the tens of millions of Americans who consider themselves ‘practicing and respectful Catholics’ and who find the killing of children – whether inside or outside the womb – reprehensible.” Pavone insisted Pelosi’s interpretation of the Catholic faith was twisted “as if it is supposed to hide us from reality instead of lead us to face reality, as if it is supposed to confuse basic moral truths instead of clarify them, and as if it is supposed to help us escape the hard moral questions of life rather then help us confront them. Whatever Catholic faith you claim to respect and practice, it is not the faith that the Catholic Church teaches. And I speak for countless Catholics when I say that it’s time for you to stop speaking as if it were.”
Pavone continued going there, bashing Pelosi and pinning her into a corner comprised of her religious “face” and her political policies which result in the death of unborn children:
PAVONE: “Mrs. Pelosi, for decades you have gotten away with betraying and misrepresenting the Catholic faith as well as the responsibilities of public office. We have had enough of it. Either exercise your duties as a public servant and a Catholic, or have the honesty to formally renounce them.”
Pavone joined with other Priests for Life and praised the U.S. House for passing the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act – protecting unborn children across the entire nation from the physical agony of abortion from 20 weeks and up. The bill passed the house on June 18 by a vote of 228-196:
TOTALS228196 10
One hundred and ninety democrat congresspeople(including Pelosi) voted AGAINST protecting unborn babies of at least 20 weeks gestation or more. Two hundred and twenty two republicans voted FOR protecting them.
But Pavone also warned that U.S. President Barack Obama has vowed to veto the legislation if it passes a senate vote:
PAVONE: “His[Obama's] views on abortion are extreme, dangerous to women as well as to their children, antithetical to the principles on which our nation was founded, and simply barbaric. Nobody with his views on such a fundamental issue belongs in public office,” Pavone said.
On Monday the Obama administration issued the following statement in regards to the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act:
“Women should be able to make their own choices about their bodies and their health care, and Government should not inject itself into decisions best made between a woman and her doctor. The Administration is committed to the protection of women’s health and reproductive freedom and to supporting women and families in the choices they make.”
The legislation will now move on to pro-abortion Senator Harry Reid’s Senate where he may or may not bring it to the floor for a vote. If allowed debate in the upper chamber the bill faces a much stiffer challenge from the democrat majority – and as aforementioned, will almost certainly be struck down by President Obama in the event it were to pass.
Full “accountability” vote counts forthcoming if/when the senate votes on the bill.
