Hillary is in dead heat with Christie

Hillary is in a dead heat with Christie as the Presidential race looks now.

Kevin McClarty

As things look now, both Hillary Clinton (D-NY) and Chris Christie (R-NJ) are in a virtual deadlock in the 2016 Presidential race, according to CNN, December 26, 2013. According to a recent poll released by CNN and ORC International, 48% of registered voters favored Christie while 46% favored Clinton. With the margin of error being 2%, it is a virtual dead heat between the two potential rivals. Hillary far out paced all other eight potential Republican contenders.
Both Clinton and Christie are the favored candidates in their respective parties for the Presidential nomination. Christie does well among Independent voters while Clinton does better among women voters. Clinton's overall strength is in the Northeast; although her margin there is small because of Christie's strength among Independent voters.
Of course, it still is very early in the game. Neither Clinton nor Christie has even announced his or her candidacy and neither has anybody else. A dark horse candidate still can emerge in either party or both. National and international events can transpire between now and November 2016 that can have a major impact on the election. In the meantime, however, it is interesting to speculate on the Presidential race, the candidates, and what may or may not happen in the primaries, the conventions, and the general election.
