ISRAEL Says Obama was Behind UN ‘Gang-Up’
Israel says it has “clear evidence” of President Obama ganging up against them at the United Nations, resulting in the passage of a resolution condemning the Jewish state last Friday.
“What is outrageous is that the United States was actually behind that gang-up. I think it was a very sad day, really a shameful chapter,” Israeli Ambassador to the US Ron Dermer told CNN Monday in an interview.
”We have clear evidence of it. We will present that evidence to the new administration through the appropriate channels. And if they want to share it with the US people, they’re welcome to do it,” Dermer added.
The UN passed a resolution Friday calling on “Israel immediately and completely [to] cease all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.”
The Obama administration abstained from the vote, which allowed for the measure’s passage in the international body.
Dermer, who said his nation is “deeply disappointed” with the US, accused the Palestinians of “wag[ing] a diplomatic and legal war against Israel” with the help of Obama.
“They do not want to negotiate peace with us, which is why they’ve avoided negotiations for eight years,” the Israeli diplomat alleged.
“What do the Palestinians want? What they want is to blame Israel for the lack of peace and to internationalize the conflict,” he said.
“What this resolution just did is it gave the Palestinians ammunition in their diplomatic and legal war against Israel. And the US not only didn’t stop it, they were behind it,” he added.
