Report: Intel Chiefs Told Trump That Russia Has DIRT On Him
US intelligence officials showed President-elect Donald Trump classified documents that the Russians claimed to have damaging personal information about him and that his campaign operatives were in contact with Russian intermediaries during the presidential campaign, it was reported Tuesday.
CNN said the data also showed that Russia had gathered potentially damaging information about both parties but only released material to hurt the Clinton campaign.
The documents were also given to President Obama.
Trump received the classified briefing Friday from the heads of four US intelligence agencies — Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, FBI Director James Comey, CIA Director John Brennan, and NSA Director Admiral Mike Rogers.
The new claims were included in a two-page summary that was part of a longer intelligence report on Russian meddling in the 2016 election.
CNN said the allegations came, in part, from memos compiled by a former British intelligence operative, whose past work US intelligence officials consider credible.
The FBI is investigating the credibility and accuracy of these allegations, which are based primarily on information from Russian sources, the network said.
