Trump Jr. Reveals Emails Claiming KREMLIN Support for His Dad
Donald Trump Jr. on Tuesday released an email exchange revealing that he hoped to get his hands on damaging information about Hillary Clinton that came from the Russian government.
The documents he was offered “would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father,” read the email, which was written by an intermediary, British music publicist Rob Goldstone.
“This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump,” the June 3, 2016, message continued.
Trump Jr. replied within minutes, “If it’s what you say I love it especially later in the summer” when the campaign would be heating up.
Goldstone met the Trumps when the former president was trying to establish businesses in Russia.
On June 7, after an exchange of emails, Goldstone wrote back, proposing a meeting in Manhattan with a “Russian government attorney.”
Trump Jr. readily agreed, and said “Paul Manafort (campaign boss)” and “my brother-in-law,” Jared Kushner, now one of the president’s closest White House advisers, would attend as well.
Goldstone said he heard about the information from Russian pop singer Emin Agalarov, whom he represented.
“Emin just called and asked me to contact you with something very interesting,” Goldstone wrote to Trump.
“The Crown prosecutor of Russia met with his father Aras this morning and in their meeting offered to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father,” he added, though there is no such position as a “Crown prosecutor” in Russia.
“What do you think is the best way to handle this information and would you be able to speak to Emin about it directly?”
Emin is the son of Aras Agalarov, a real estate tycoon dubbed the “Donald Trump of Russia” who has ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin and also to President Trump.
Donald Trump Sr. even appeared in a music video with Emin Agalarov, when he owned the Miss Universe pageant in 2013.
Trump Jr. and his high-powered white collar criminal defense lawyer, Alan Futerfas, insist he did nothing wrong.
“Media & Dems are extremely invested in the Russia story. If this nonsense meeting is all they have after a yr, I understand the desperation!” he defiantly tweeted Tuesday morning.
The White House has said President Trump was unaware of the meeting, and he has not commented on the revelations about his eldest son.
It’s unclear what the supposedly damaging information about Clinton involved, and the Russian lawyer has denied offering any, though Trump Jr. acknowledged they spoke about the former first lady.
